The National Peace Rally organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City was peaceful and smooth.
This was revealed on Tuesday, 14 January by Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, the Deputy City Director for Operations of the Cebu City Police Office.
Macatangay told media that as early as 7a.m., the INC members from various areas in Central Visayas began arriving at the venue.
Meanwhile, the peace rally held by the INC at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday was generally peaceful, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
NCRPO chief Brigadier General Anthony Aberin said the event drew an estimated crowd of 1,580,000 INC members.
Aberin personally supervised the deployment of officers, reinforcing safety in all key areas. Personnel from Police Regional Offices 3 and 4A, the Special Action Force and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-NCRPO bolstered security operations.
“The peaceful, orderly and highly-organized exercise of the right to peaceably assemble is attributed to the stringent preparations jointly made by the leadership of Iglesia Ni Cristo, the NCRPO, the local government unit and other agencies of government. I thank every member of the security force deployed for their dedication and commitment to maintain peace and ensure public safety,” Aberin said.
The NCRPO chief also lauded the discipline and cooperation demonstrated by all participants, emphasizing the importance of strong collaboration between law enforcement and community organizations.
He highlighted that such partnerships are essential in maintaining peace and security during public events, showcasing the collective effort required for successful and safe gatherings.
