Bisera conquers MPGAP tourney

Ramil Bisera
DAVAO CITY -- Ramil Bisera added another feather to his cap when he secured the title in the 1st Mindanao Professional Golfers Association of the Philippines (MPGAP) golf tournament on Monday at the South Pacific Golf Davao grounds here.
Bisera, one of the few unheralded professional players in this talent-rich region, forged a tie with Emilio Padimdim with similar 74s before prevailing in the playoff.
Padimdim settled for second place while Edgar Ababa placed third after carding 75.
Joseph Labajo and Bernard Paquin had 75 and 77 for third and fourth places, respectively.
“It was a good win, especially during the playoff round,” Bisera said.
Paquin added that the event is their way of boosting the professional golf circuit in Mindanao.
“This will only be a start for our professional golfers here in Mindanao. We plan to have more tournaments in the coming years,” added Paquin, who also acted as the tournament supervisor.
Some 21 professional golfers, both teaching and touring, saw action in the one-day tournament backed by Andrew Bautista of Orchard Catering, South Pacific Golf Club Davao and Neil Canedo.
