In the absence of the formal complaint from his wife, Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial has been advised by his lawyer to refrain from addressing or commenting to allegations against him by his wife Princess Galarpe-Marcial.

“Following the recent social media posts of Mr. Eumir Marcial’s wife, we advise Mr. Marcial to address or respond to the allegations against him in the proper forum,” lawyer Marlon Morada said in a statement released on Saturday afternoon.

“To date, our client has not yet received a formal complaint-affidavit from his wife or the appropriate government agency. Rest assured that as soon as we receive the complaint-affidavit, Mr. Marcial shall answer all the allegations against him head on,” Morada said.

Marcial, who placed third in the middleweight division of the boxing competitions in Tokyo in 2021, is being sued by his wife for infidelity and abuse.

“Mr. Marcial pleads with the media to refrain from spreading misinformation to mitigate any unfortunate and unfair conclusions about him and/or his family,” the statement said.

The Zamboanga City fighter last competed in the Paris Olympics where he was eliminated in the preliminaries.

Currently, Marcial, 29, is a professional boxer with a 5-0 win-loss card with three knockouts.

Morada said his client will attempt to concentrate on his pro career even as he bids to fight off his wife’s allegations.

“Mr. Marcial remains focused in his career and will continuously bring honor and pride to our country and our kababayans. Mr. Marcial hopes that he will be vindicated as he undergoes our due process. Thank you.”

Marcial’s wife alleges that his husband is having an affair with somebody from Zamboanga City and that they haven’t been living together since October of last year.

The bronze won by Marcial in Tokyo was one of four the Philippines brought home from Tokyo, including the gold — the Philippines’ first in the Olympics — won by weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz and the silvers of fellow boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam.

The wedding of Marcial and Galarpe-Marcial took place in 2021 following the boxer’s Olympic breakthrough.
