
City of San Fernando, Pampanga — The Diosdado Macapagal Government Center (DMGC) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have recently explored the development of infrastructure within the 18-hectare complex in Barangay Maimpis.
The area houses over 50 government offices and serves thousands of Filipino clients daily.
Key DMGC officials attending the meeting included chairperson and current Philippine Information Agency Central Luzon director William Beltran, National Economic and Development Authority Region III supervising administrative officer Rowena Victoria David and Jesito Ponio Jr.
The DPWH was represented by its Regional Office III and Pampanga 1st District Engineering Office (DEO). The two groups discussed proposals to improve unpaved road sections, drainage systems, and construct comfort rooms, multi-level parking structures, and other facilities to enhance the government center’s functionality and service delivery.
Beltran stressed the need for regular DMGC maintenance to ensure its infrastructure remains optimal, prompting their request for DPWH assistance.
Meantime, DPWH assistant regional director for Region III Melquiades Sto. Domingo and Planning and Design Assistant Division chief Anatolio Mendiola, Jr., affirmed the requests and stressed the need to prepare the necessary funding documents.
District Engineer Almer Miranda and Assistant District Engineer Alfie Lejarde has expressed full support and committed to assisting with the surveys required for preparing the proposal documents.
The discussion, also attended by Engr. Kristine Dizon and Engr. Christopher Magtoto, included updates on the proposed conversion of roads within the compound into national roads to ensure proper maintenance by DPWH Pampanga 1st DEO.
