4 cops nabbed over planned robbery

Four police officers, three of them active and one absent without official leave (AWOL), were apprehended Saturday night in Bulacan for their alleged involvement in a planned robbery.
According to the Philippine National Police, the arrests occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. along El Camino Road, Barangay Perez, Meycauayan City.
Those arrested were P/Cpl. Jayson Medallada and P/SSg. Mark Raian Vicente, both assigned to the Caloocan City Police Station; P/Cpl. Jayson Medallada, assigned to the Quezon City Police District; and Pat. Reiniel Basilio, formerly assigned to the Malabon City Police Station.
The Meycauayan City Police Station said it received a tip from a concerned citizen about suspicious individuals preparing to rob a local business, prompting the police response.
Responding officers discovered the suspects in possession of a .45 caliber pistol, four 9mm pistols, and approximately 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine (shabu).
Authorities also seized PNP identification cards, nine mobile phones, three motorcycles, two Land Transportation Office (LTO) motorcycle license plates, four motorcycle helmets, various articles of clothing including three caps, and six bonnets.
The four officers were placed in the custody of the Meycauayan police and will face administrative charges as well as criminal charges for violations of Republic Act 10591 (the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Republic Act 9165 (the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).
