The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) disclosed on Thursday that 806 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City were vaccinated against flu.

The three-day vaccination campaign started last 18 December and was held at the NBP’s minimum security camp. Forty-nine bureau personnel were also vaccinated.

The BuCor in a statement said the initiative is part of a broader effort to safeguard the health and well-being of individuals within the facilities, ensuring that personnel and PDLs are protected against seasonal flu outbreaks.

It said the campaign was led by BuCor’s Directorate for Health and Welfare Services headed by CT/SInsp. Ma. Teresa Anuri.

Earlier, the BuCor allowed families of PDLs on Wednesday to visit all correctional facilities to foster family solidarity and promote the morale and welfare of PDLs.

Regular visits will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., while BuCor is authorizing stay-in privileges for wives and common-law wives of PDLs during the holiday season.

In a memorandum, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. outlined how these stay-in privileges will be implemented in two batches for each holiday period. This approach ensures that more families can benefit from the privileges while maintaining order within the facilities.
