Dear Atty. Joji,
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that on Christmas morning, an immigration officer at Clark International Airport (CIA) apprehended a suspected human trafficker after intercepting four of her victims.
Mary Jane Hizon, chief of the Immigration Protection and Border Enforcement Section, said the four victims and their escort were intercepted after they tried to board a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Singapore.
Hizon reported that the victims, all in their 20s, initially claimed to be on a solo trip. However, after being verified by immigration officers, they finally admitted that they were traveling with a 38-year-old female escort.
The victims then revealed that they were on their way to Cambodia to work as encoders for a POGO-like company after being recruited by an Indonesian woman. Their escort claimed that she was instructed by the recruiter to assist the four victims entering Singapore, and eventually, they will cross to Cambodia.
