10 typhoon-hit in the Bicol Region receive relief assistance from SHFC.
The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) has launched a Christmas relief initiative to support communities devastated by recent typhoons in the Cagayan Valley and Bicol region. The relief drive, held on 21 December, provided essential supplies to more than 1,000 affected families.
In Cagayan, over 650 members from Maura Rotary Village Homeowners’ Association, Inc. (HOAI), Tabacalera CMO HOAI, and Minanga Aparri CMP HOAI received relief packs distributed by SHFC.
Meanwhile, in Bicol, more than 450 beneficiaries from Brgy. Igualdad (Zone 5) HOAI, Canda Neighborhood HOAI, Del Rosario HOAI, Isefa HOAI, LBC Village HOAI, Lerma Urban Poor HOAI, Nazareno Urban Community HOAI, Villa Robredo HOAI, Samahan ng mga Benepisyaryo Agraryo para sa Kaunlaran ng Binauaanan (SBAKB) HOAI, and Santiago Urban Village HOAI in Pili and Naga City, Camarines Sur, as well as Daet, Camarines Norte, received aid.
The relief operations support President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s directive to redirect funds from scaled-down Christmas celebrations to assist disaster-affected areas.
“Our hearts go out to all the families affected by the recent disasters,” SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa said. “Through the collective efforts of our team, we were able to bring early Christmas gifts and much-needed relief to our member-beneficiaries in Cagayan Valley and the Bicol region.”
SHFC plays a vital role in implementing the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program. Current 4PH projects are underway in San Fernando City, Pampanga; Davao City; Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental; Tondo and San Miguel districts in Manila; and Puerto Princesa, Palawan. More than 100 additional projects are in the pipeline, which could generate up to 415,000 housing units.
