The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday strongly denied a circulating online report claiming the cancellation of the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for its personnel, denouncing it as an “absolutely fake news.”

The PNP assured its officers that their bonuses are already in the works as it categorically denied the existence of any memorandum or directive that would revoke the SRI for Fiscal Year 2024.

“The circulating document is absolutely fake news and should not be considered legitimate or credible,” the PNP stated.

The SRI, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved for all qualified government personnel — including teachers, military and uniformed services — provides each recipient P20,000.

“The Finance Service, in coordination with the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, is working diligently to ensure that all qualified PNP personnel will receive their SRI.”

The PNP further condemned the spreading of the fake memorandum as a “malicious act,” designed to cause confusion and undermine the integrity of the police force. An in-depth investigation is underway to identify those responsible for spreading the false information, it added.

“Rest assured that appropriate charges will be filed against individuals found culpable for this deliberate attempt to mislead and sow confusion within our ranks and the general public,” it said.

The PNP also urged both its personnel and the public to exercise caution when encountering unverified information online, particularly content that could damage the reputation of the police force.

It reiterated that any official announcements or communications would be disseminated through proper and verified channels.
