Who needs a passport when the DAILY TRIBUNE can experience the world right in the wilds of Alabang? This year’s annual Christmas party brought the theme “Christmas Around the World” to life — a vibrant global celebration like no other.
The much-anticipated evening delivered on its promises of explosive fun, as every person arrived in their “super slay” outfits, each representing a specific country. From South Korea’s chic hanboks to Japan’s elegant kimonos, from Arabian-inspired regal robes to the timeless charm of Scotland’s kilts, the diversity of costumes was nothing short of a runway spectacle. Attendees also proudly showcased the USA’s iconic stars and stripes, France’s haute couture vibes, Greece’s ancient-inspired drapes and, of course, the beauty of Philippines’ filipiniana and barong tagalog.
The venue turned into an otherworldly realm, where nations converged to celebrate the season in style. Even as the festivities roared, newspaper production remained on track — a true reflection of the KaTribu team’s unwavering passion and commitment.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the costume contest, where everyone hoped to top last year’s fit-check extravaganza. With dazzling creativity and impeccable presentations, KaTribu members showcased their looks before DAILY TRIBUNE president Willie Fernandez and EVP Chingbee Fernandez.
Leading the pack was Windsor Genova, whose jaw-dropping “United Nations” ensemble merged various countries’ elements into one cohesive, dazzling outfit. His originality and craftsmanship earned him the top prize.
Coming in second was Lorenz Dalit, who channeled heritage and mysticism in his ethnically-inspired look. Draped in tribal textiles and wielding a symbolic baton, he embodied a protector of “anito,” bringing Filipino roots to life.
Rounding out the top three was layout artist Avic Clemente, who redefined the modern Filipiniana with a “Maria Clara” twist —“very demure, very cutesy”— topped with a white flower and the Philippine flag, proving that a Filipino touch never goes out of style.
The night was brimming with excitement, as everyone brought their A-game to the party. Activities ranged from classic games like “Trip to Alabang (Jerusalem),” “Longest Line” and “Pinoy Henyo,” to a lively raffle that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
Gift exchanges filled the room with laughter and strengthened bonds, making camaraderie the centerpiece of the celebration.
The evening’s performances were equally unforgettable. The Online Team energized the crowd with their take on viral TikTok trends, while the Accounting and Advertising teams charmed everyone with a playful, Pinoy-inspired courtship skit. The Circulation Team added a cultural flair with their tribal-inspired dance, but the Editorial Team undoubtedly stole the show. Dressed as representatives of various nations, their heartfelt rendition of Michael Jackson’s “We Are the World” embodied the night’s theme of unity and earned them the Best Performance Award.
No Filipino Christmas celebration is complete without a feast, and this year’s spread was nothing short of spectacular. Traditional holiday favorites like bibingka and puto bumbong were popular spots, while lechon baka on a pit took centerstage. An indulgent buffet that included Filipino favorites and international fare had everyone going back for seconds. To top it off, gelato and cakes galore made every sweet tooth joyful. Beer and wines were poured to “cheers.”
As the festivities came to an end, one thing stood out: no matter where in the world you hail from, the DAILY TRIBUNE remains united. Living by the mantra “Without Fear, Without Favor,” the night was a testament to the shared spirit that defines this remarkable team.
Hosted with flair and humor by the dynamic duo, creative director Alvin Kasiban and social media head Patricia Ramirez, the “Christmas Around the World” DT 2024 Christmas Party was truly a December to remember.
Here’s to another year of the KaTRIBU spirit!
