The Vatican has announced plans to deliver extensive coverage of Jubilee 2025 through its multimedia platforms, ensuring global accessibility to the event’s major moments. The initiative will enable faithful worldwide to participate in this sacred observance, even if they cannot travel to Rome.
The Jubilee of Hope will officially begin on Christmas Eve, 24 December, with Pope Francis opening the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica. Vatican Media, including Vatican Radio, Vatican News, and L'Osservatore Romano, in collaboration with YouTube, will broadcast all major Jubilee events in real time and on-demand. Programming will be available in 53 languages, including sign language, ensuring accessibility to diverse audiences.
Through live streams, vodcasts, podcasts, and short video highlights, Vatican Media will immerse viewers in the spiritual, cultural, and historical significance of the Jubilee. Exclusive interviews with Church leaders and pilgrims will provide insights into the event’s impact on the global Catholic community.
Vatican News, in partnership with YouTube, will offer a range of content designed to make the Jubilee experience meaningful and engaging. These include:
Live streaming of key events such as the opening and closing of Holy Doors and papal Masses.
Exclusive interviews reflecting on the Jubilee’s spiritual and societal significance.
Multimedia features exploring the traditions, heritage, and themes of the Holy Year.
The initiative also seeks to bridge the digital and spiritual realms, creating a global space for reflection and prayer.
Jubilee 2025 continues the Church’s tradition of designating Holy Years as times of grace and renewal. Themed "Pilgrims of Hope," this Jubilee builds on the legacy of past jubilees, including the Great Jubilee of 2000 and the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in 2015–2016.
Pope Francis entrusted the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization with organizing the event, emphasizing its role in strengthening faith and hope among Catholics worldwide.
By leveraging technology and multimedia, the Vatican aims to make Jubilee 2025 a truly universal celebration of faith, accessible to all.
For Catholics unable to travel to Rome, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has designated specific churches as Jubilee pilgrimage sites. These include the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila, and the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo, Rizal.
“These sacred sites will offer the faithful an opportunity for deeper reflection, conversion, and the experience of God’s infinite mercy,” CBCP President CardinalPablo Virgilio David said.
Bishops worldwide, including those in the Philippines, have been tasked with ensuring that sacramental confession and indulgences are available throughout the Jubilee year. The CBCP emphasized the importance of reconciliation and spiritual growth, aligning with Pope Francis’s call for local churches to facilitate meaningful pilgrimage experiences.
