The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP) is set to hold the much-anticipated Mindanao Parent & Child Tournament on 5-6 January 2025 at the prestigious Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao City.
The event, to be held in memory of Davao’s legendary champion Cassius Casas, is expected to bring together young golfers and their parents in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere, aiming to foster a deeper connection between family members and the sport of golf.
This tournament, now an annual fixture on the JGFP calendar, offers a unique format where parents and children team up to compete, combining the skills and experience of the older generation with the enthusiasm and talent of the younger players. It is designed not only to promote junior golf development but also to encourage family involvement in the sport.
The format of play is alternate shots on the first round and scramble in the final round.
The event will feature participants from around the country, with junior golfers competing in various age categories, including both boys and girls.
The tournament aims to provide a platform for young players to showcase their skills, hone their competitive edge, and gain valuable experience in a highly competitive environment.
For parents, the tournament presents an opportunity to bond with their children through the game of golf. It’s a rare chance for families to share the thrill of the sport while working together to achieve success on the course.
As one of the premier golf events for the junior category in Mindanao, the tournament will see both seasoned players and first-timers competing for the top prizes.
Known for its challenging layout and picturesque scenery, the Apo course will test the skills of players, providing a suitable challenge for both parents and children.
