The Philippines will be showcasing 15 young weightlifters for the 2024 Asian Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Eight weightlifters are already competing at press time.

Alexsandra Ann Diaz, niece of Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, kicks off the Filipinos’ campaign as she vies in the youth women’s 45-kilogram category.

Althea Bacaro and Princess Jay Ann Diaz will be competing in the youth women’s 40-kg category.

Three Filipinos compete in the women’s 45-kg category with Angeline Colonia and Rose Jean Ramos seeing action in the youth division while Jeaneth Hipolito is trying her luck in the junior division.

In the youth men’s 49-kg category, Eron B. Borres and Aldrin F. Colonia will be representing the Philippines.

On 20 December, Lovely Inan will be competing in the youth women 49-kg category while Kim Inan will be attempting to reap honors in the junior category of the same weight class.

Rosalinda Faustino, meanwhile, will be competing in both the youth and junior divisions of the women’s 49-kg category.

Also competing on Saturday are Prince Keil delos Santos, who will compete in both the youth and junior division, and Eleaphraime Limmong, who will compete in the junior division, as they join the men’s 55-kg category.

Jhodie A. Peralta will be the lone Filipino weightlifter vying in the women’s 55-kg category as she will be eyeing to win both youth and junior divisions.

Jose Dayao III will cap the Philippines’ campaign in the tournament as he joins both youth and junior divisions of the men’s 67-kg category.
