The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that it successfully stopped another attempt at illegal surrogacy trafficking to Georgia after apprehending two Filipino victims at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
During the primary inspection, both passengers claimed to be friends and professionals traveling on a self-funded leisure trip to Tbilisi, Georgia. However, immigration officers noticed inconsistencies in their stories and referred them for secondary inspection.
Further investigation revealed that their documents were fraudulent.
The victims, whose names were withheld for their protection, later admitted that they had been recruited online to serve as surrogate mothers for an unidentified individual, with a promised monthly salary of P700,000.
