Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna expressed her appreciation for the help and valuable support of city lawmakers, especially in helping poor people.
This comes after Manila Third District Representative Joel Chua joined the local government’s efforts to extend various forms of assistance to about 500 families displaced by a recent fire in Barangay 310, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo, Chua and city councilors distributed financial assistance, relief goods, hygiene kits and other essential items to the fire victims.
“The hope brought by every help we give is proof of the government’s concern for every family in need during times of disaster. We will continue to be partners in their recovery,” Lacuna said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of high school students have benefited and continue to benefit from the Career Guidance Advocacy Program of the Manila city government.
Lacuna said that the most recent beneficiaries were about 300 students from Tondo High School.
The local government, under Lacuna and Vice Mayor Servo, has been conducting the program in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Division of City Schools of Manila, and the heads of schools concerned.
Lacuna disclosed that the orientation program is being held to guide and prepare senior high school students on what path to pursue, such as college, work, or starting a business.
At the Justice Jose Abad Santos Senior High School, about 700 students were given orientation.
