While members of the House inquisition are united in squeezing every drop of the public inquiry featuring the Dutertes for exposure, the factions are showing their true colors as they diverge on the manner of exploiting the opportunity open to them.

Now that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has spoken out against the unproductive and divisive impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte, the real legislators must return to the task of nation building.
The prime task of the lawmakers now is to ensure that the 2025 national budget is submitted to the President before the end of the year so that the development momentum is maintained.
The President admitted having sent text messages to members of Congress asking them to forgo the filing of an impeachment complaint against Duterte, who in an unhinged moment threatened the President, the First Lady and the House Speaker with death if she’s assassinated.
The feisty VP was ticked off by the congressmen’s harassment of her staff primarily by the Makabayan troublemakers over questions on the confidential and intelligence funds (CIF) of the Department of Education and the Office of the Vice President.
The CIF was mostly funneled to programs to weaken the influence of communist ideologues, particularly in schools that are rich ground for recruitment by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
“This (impeaching the VP) is not important. This does not make any difference to even one single Filipino life. So why waste time on it? What will happen if somebody files an impeachment? It will tie down the House, it will tie down the Senate,” the President said.
In the leaked private message, Marcos told the lawmakers, including the troublemakers, that “in the larger scheme of things, Sara is unimportant. So please do not file an impeachment complaint. It will only distract us from the real work of governance which is to improve the [lives] of all Filipinos.”
Marcos called the hullabaloo around the impeachment plan “a storm in a teacup.”
Asked if he had reached the point of no return with Duterte, Marcos said, “Never say never.”
After Mr. Marcos revealed his sentiment on the brewing effort in the House, the Makabayan anarchists rejected his entreaty. They accused the President of “interfering” in the legislature’s affairs.
“Such a move shows a weak leadership. In the presence of corruption, death threats and a blatant disrespect of the House of Representatives, this is how the President behaves and stands?” the Makabayan troublemakers said in a statement.
The immediate response of the left-wingers in the House reflects the degree of trouble the legislature has found itself in by harboring the communist front minions as part of the anti-Duterte campaign.
In a signal to the President, three House leaders said “impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte are not on our agenda.”
Yet, they gave broad hints that the inquisition would continue.
The militant bloc then called on the House leadership to maintain its independence and exercise its constitutional mandate “without pressure from Malacañang.”
While members of the House inquisition are united in squeezing every drop of the public inquiry featuring the Dutertes for exposure, the factions are showing their true colors as they diverge on the manner of exploiting the opportunity open to them.
The troublemakers are one for further escalating the political temperature through impeachment to attain their goal of destabilizing the institutions.
The reelectionists and their ilk are content with keeping the television cameras focused on them and their antics.
The Makabayan bloc, some members of which are aiming to run for the Senate, said they will not obey the request of Mr. Marcos and will seek to impeach VP Duterte because the “situation and the people call for it.”
