Mandaluyong City marked its annual Pistang Daluyong celebration on Friday, 29 November, with a vibrant maritime parade along the Pasig River, led by Mayor Ben Abalos, Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, and the Sangguniang Panlungsod. The event celebrated the city’s history and community spirit, featuring boats creatively decorated by representatives from the city’s 27 barangays and various government offices under the theme "Lumipad na higit na matayog, Mandaluyong."
The celebration included an inter-school on-the-spot painting contest for students and a fishing competition for residents, adding more excitement to the festivities.
This year’s Pistang Daluyong also commemorated the 93rd anniversary of the signing of Act No. 3836 on 6 November, 1931, which officially renamed the Municipality of San Felipe in Rizal Province to Mandaluyong. The renaming was made possible through the efforts of Assemblyman Pedro Magsalin, who authored and sponsored the law.
