President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. announced plans to establish community- and university-based seed production facilities to enhance the country’s food production capabilities.
Speaking during the ceremonial turnover of the Korea Partnership for Innovation of Agriculture (KOPIA) Greenhouses and Postharvest Facilities in Quezon province, Marcos emphasized the importance of creating a food production facility to support the agricultural sector's needs.
The initiative, once established, will be spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) with support from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and state universities and colleges.
“Through these endeavors, no farmer, no family, no community will be left behind as we strive for a future where agriculture drives growth, nourishes our people, and sustains our nation,” Marcos said.
The President also called on the public to unite in building a "Bagong Pilipinas," envisioning a nation “where every farmer prospers, every harvest brings hope, and every Filipino takes pride in the people’s hard-earned progress.”
