Unbeaten super-featherweight Charly Suarez believes the key to staying relevant is regular activity.

Already rated No. 1 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Suarez was aiming to secure a title shot before the end of 2024 but is being made to wait until after the 7 December clash between Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez in Arizona.

Top Rank promotes them all and Suarez’s chief trainer Delfin Boholst said what’s on the horizon would depend on what’s going to happen to that key bout late next week.

Suarez, holder of an 18-0 win-loss card with ten knockouts, is coming off a vicious victory over Jorge Castañeda at the Desert Diamond Casino in Arizona.

Boholst, who was Suarez’s pal during their days in the national team, told DAILY TRIBUNE on Thursday that there is an offer from No. 2-rated Albert Bell of the United States for a fight.

“I told them to contact Top Rank first,” Boholst said, adding that Suarez remains in training mode “so that if there is a callup for a fight, we will be ready.”

Suarez, 36, said he would love to stay busy while waiting for concrete plans.

“It would be ideal if I stay active and busy while waiting,” said the national team standout.

Managed by former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson and represented by Ricky Navalta, Suarez is one of the country’s top prospects for a world title in the coming year.

Singson intially had wanted to promote Suarez’s title shot in the country but was beaten to the draw by Top Rank.

Still, Singson is right behind Suarez’s quest for a world crown.
