Flag-carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) and its subsidiary, PAL Express, have agreed to use Airbus’ S. Fleet Performance plus (S.FP+) suite for predictive maintenance and health monitoring across their entire Airbus fleet.
PAL said on Thursday that it signed an agreement with Airbus to allow its fleet — comprising the A320 Family (A321ceo and A321neo), A330ceo, and A350 aircraft — to integrate the S.FP+ solution.
The system aims to minimize unplanned maintenance events, reduce associated costs and improve fleet reliability and operational efficiency.
“Our partnership with Airbus to implement S.FP+ will help PAL elevate operational efficiency. Leveraging Airbus’ predictive maintenance solutions will enhance our fleet’s reliability and high-performance standards,” PAL officer-in-charge senior vice president for Operations Group Capt. Roland Narciso said.
First in Asia
PAL is the first airline in the Asia-Pacific region to adopt the “Enhance” tier of S.FP+, which uses predictive analytics to anticipate component wear or failure.
The package provides advanced fleet health insights and prioritizes technical issues based on their operational and economic impact. S.FP+ integrates with Airbus’ Skywise Core Platform, a data-driven system that supports advanced fleet management.
According to Balinda Zhang, Airbus head of Commercial Services for the Asia-Pacific, the partnership with PAL shows the potential in Southeast Asia for data-driven efficiency in fleet management.
“This milestone also strengthens Airbus’ role in data solutions and paves the way for further adoption of advanced maintenance technologies across the region,” Zhang said.
