LIVE updates - COC filing, 2025 elections Day 6

Today marks the sixth day for aspiring candidates in the 2025 national and local elections (#Halalan2025) to file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), and for party-lists to submit their Certificates of Nomination and Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination (CONA).

For Senate candidates and party-lists, papers must be filed at the Comelec office in Manila Hotel, while local bets must head to their respective local Comelec offices to file.

The period for COC filing is between 1-8 October, 2024. Candidates can file their papers on the weekend.

Masbate Mayor files for governor

Reynaldo Malonzo files COC for congressional bid

2:03 PM - Former councilor PJ Malonzo, along with his councilor allies, filed their certificates of candidacy for vice mayor and councilors of Caloocan City in the 2025 elections on Sunday, 6 October, at SM Grand Central in Caloocan City.

Mayor Michael Marcos-Keon Files COC for Final Term

1:29 PM - Laoag City Mayor Michael Marcos-Keon, cousin of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., arrived at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office on Sunday to file his Certificate of Candidacy for his third and final term. Valenzuela Mayor Wes Gatchalian files for reelection

12:44 PM - Incumbent Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian files his Certificate of Candidacy at ALERT Center in Valenzuela City.

#Halalan2025: In an interview, Gatchalian acknowledged that a three-year term feels too short to fully accomplish his goals, but he vowed to continue working on his initiatives to transform Valenzuela City into a more “livable city.”

Ruiz to vie for Cebu mayor seat

More than 50,000 supporters gathered on 5 October to proclaim former Customs Commissioner and DAILY TRIBUNE columnist Yogi Filemon Ruiz as their candidate for Cebu City mayor.

During the rally, Ruiz clarified, “I want to be clear on this...in this proclamation, I will not be announcing a vice mayor or congressman.”

He emphasized that the election is not about presenting a full slate but rather selecting candidates who align with the group's political goals.
