Overflowing rivers engulf Russia’s southern Urals and western Siberia

KAZAKH rescuers evacuate a resident of the flooded settlement of Pokrovka, some 90 kilometers from the city of Petropavl, in northern Kazakhstan close to the border with Russia. Water levels in overflowing rivers were still rising in swathes of Russia and Kazakhstan that have been hit by massive floods, with Russia’s city of Orenburg and western Siberia bracing for a new peak.
