LAMITAN CITY, Basilan Province
— The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s Ministry of Public Works has started to evaluate all completed and ongoing infrastructure projects they implemented in Basilan province last year.
MPW Basilan Province District Engineer Kasim Ajalal Hasanin on Sunday disclosed that his office is now evaluating all MPW infrastructure projects they have implemented in the province for the past two years — 2022 and 2023.
“It is important for my office to evaluate all infrastructure projects funded by BARMM regardless of whether it is already completed or ongoing,” Hasanin said.
“It is my duty as MPW district engineer of the province to know the status of all infrastructure projects funded by BARMM and implemented in the province whether it is being undertaken by contract or administration,” he added.
Hasanin also said that the construction of various infrastructure projects in the province is part of the socio-economic development agenda of the Bangsamoro government for Basilan province.
Among the infrastructure projects now being evaluated by MPW Basilan Engineering district Office are shoreline protection, widening of roads, footbridges, drainage system, wharf with ro-ro landing port and many others.
“You have to take note that infrastructure projects in the province are now mushrooming and BARMM infusing over a billion of government funds yearly, all targeted for the economic upliftment and development of the province,” Hasanin said.
He also disclosed that they have formed a team of engineers and tasked them to conduct a review of the civil infrastructure systems involved in the design of all projects before their implementation including an analysis and management of infrastructure that supports human activities.
For his part, MPW Minister Architect Eduard Uy Guerra asked Hasanin to distribute the projects, according to the needs of the town for a balanced economic advancement in the locality.
