Davao parents urged: Deworm kids

DAVAO CITY — The City Health Office here joined hands with the Department of Health in ensuring the safety of children against parasitic worms as it urged the Dabawenyo parents to have their kids dewormed every six months.

CHO Nutrition Division head Elizabeth Banzon disclosed on Friday that the deworming activity prioritized children aged one to 12 years old.

“Deworming is a medical procedure that is supposedly for the whole population but we are prioritizing children aged 1–12 years old, that’s why we are also coordinating with the Department of Education and the daycare facilities,” Banzon said.

Every January, the CHO observes the National Deworming Month with simultaneous deworming activities, in partnership with the barangays, schools and daycare centers.

She said that the deworming activities will run from January to February this year.
