On Monday, after the flag-raising ceremony, newly-appointed Manila International Airport Authority acting general manager Eric Jose Castro Ines conducted his first meeting with the heads of the MIAA Airport Police Department to tackle issues that he observed during his first week.
In the course of the meeting, acting general manager Ines gave the APD an order to address the traffic issue at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminals.
According to Ines, he personally experienced this many times, even with his friends and family who were going to the airport. He is also annoyed because, despite the heavy traffic, he encounters some airport police who are just using their cellphones and texting while they are on duty.
He also ordered to resolve the problem of colorum taxis and other transports that operate at NAIA to scam newly-arrived passengers, especially first-time foreign tourists, with their fare rates.
In his statement during the flag-raising ceremony, Ines said that, as the newly appointed acting GM of MIAA, he will serve as a good example to all airport employees and remind all airport personnel that, as public servants, they need to be honest at all times.
The airport acting chief also announced to airport personnel that their performance bonus for 2022 has been approved and will be released soon.
