The Parañaque City Environment and Natural Resources Office is awaiting the lot survey conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to determine the extent of the encroachment on Baloc-Baloc Creek due to the waterway's reclamation.
In an interview, engineer Ma. Teresa P. Quiogue, CENRO assistant department head, said they need the lot survey to determine the exact measurements of the encroachment on the creek in Camella Classic Homes in Barangay Don Bosco.
"The DENR conducted the lot survey, and we are awaiting its release," Quiogue said in an interview.
The reaction of the Parañaque City government was sought after Department of the Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Marlo Iringan said they were looking into the alleged issuance by the local government of building permits for the structures built along and on top of Baloc-Baloc Creek, in violation of easement rules. The constructions on the creek have caused flooding in nearby subdivisions.
"A team from our department is closely coordinating with the city government on this issue, particularly with the City Building Official and City Engineering office," Iringan said.
"Our NCR office issued a memorandum on the matter last 28 December seeking the city government's official reply," he added.
The city government has told the DILG it did not issue building permits for the structures on the creek.
