The Land Transportation Office has summoned both the driver of a car caught in a road rage video and the operator of a boom truck that rammed several vehicles in Quezon City in recent days.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II announced Friday that a show-cause order had been issued to the registered owner of a Toyota Vios featured in a viral video depicting a heated exchange with another motorist.
"As part of the due process, we want to know the side of the person involved before any action of the LTO," Mendoza said.
Initial investigations suggest potential violations for obstruction of traffic and improper person to operate a motor vehicle, the latter carrying a possible penalty of driver's license cancellation.
Separately, the LTO initiated action against the driver and owner of an Isuzu boom truck involved in a collision with at least two vehicles near a traffic light at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Examiner Street in Barangay West Triangle. The incident left at least two people injured.
The registered owner of the Vios and the boom truck were ordered to appear before the LTO on 17 January and to present notarized affidavits explaining why they should not be penalized.
Both had their licenses, as well as the registrations of their vehicle, put on hold by the LTO.
