The fingertip bone of a nine-year old was affected when a firecracker exploded on 1 January in Muntinlupa.
The Muntinlupa City Health Office said the boy is a resident of Sitio San Antonio in Barangay Poblacion.
The report stated that a "Boy Bawang" firecracker caused the boy to lose his fingertip bone (distal phalanx) of the middle finger in his right hand.
This brought to three the total firecracker incidents in Muntinlupa as people welcomed the New Year on 31 December.
Also, a 27-year-old man, a resident of San Guillermo Street in Barangay Bayanan, suffered an injury in the right eye due to trompillo.
A 19-year-old man from Balbanero Compound in Barangay Alabang also suffered burns on his thumb and ring finger when a kwitis exploded in his hand.
These three injuries happened due to the defiance of people for violating a Muntinlupa ordinance banning the use and sale of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in the city.
