Senator Christopher "Bong" Go extended his heartfelt greetings to all Filipinos, calling on the nation to embody the spirit of Bayanihan as they honor the legacy of hero Dr. Jose Rizal and welcome the New Year.
Rizal Day, observed every 30th of December, commemorates the life and martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal. This day marks the anniversary of Rizal's execution in 1896 at Bagumbayan (now Luneta Park) in Manila.
Go expressed profound respect for Rizal, whose life and works remain a towering source of Filipino identity and nationalism.
The senator urged Filipinos to draw inspiration from Rizal's example and work together towards a prosperous future.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by the nation and the world, stressing the importance of unity and collective effort in overcoming them.
Go also emphasized Rizal's impact not only to the Philippines but the whole world. He recalled his visit to Spain last year to represent the Senate in an event held at the Rizal monument in Madrid.
The senator emphasized the legacy of Rizal particularly his literary works that continue to inspire and educate various generations.
Go also drew inspiration from Rizal in his advocacy to fight for the rights and welfare of Filipinos particularly the poor and vulnerable sectors.
Meanwhile, as the nation prepares to welcome the new year, Go conveyed a sense of hopeful anticipation for the future.
" Let us unite and help each other not only in remembering Jose Rizal but also in facing the challenges of the New Year," Go said.
