A crackdown against illegal firecrackers and motorcycle with open pipe was launched by Muntinlupa police as it implements city ordinances for the purpose.
A report from Muntinlupa police showed the operation was conducted by personnel from the Substation 6 in Southville 3 Housing Project in Barangay Poblacion on 25 December, Christmas Day.
The operation was held to implement Ordinance No. 14–092, which prohibits "the manufacture, display, sale, distribution, possession or use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices and such other similar devices and the exploding of firecrackers or other similar explosives within the territorial jurisdiction of Muntinlupa City."
The policy against the use of open pipes and mufflers is under Ordinance 04-022 or the Muntinlupa City Traffic Code.
The police also apprehended a motorcycle for violation of the ordinance against open pipes and mufflers.
They also seized 200 pieces of Kwitis and seven fountains worth P12,600.
The city government said what is only allowed is a community fireworks display with corresponding permits.
