The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the recent apprehension of an Indonesian national who was involved in cybercrime at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
The BI-NAIA officials identified the suspect as Angga Pratama, 34 years old, who attempted to depart the country via a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Singapore on Thursday morning.
Pratama was flagged by immigration officials after noticing a derogatory hit against him in the BI database.
In response to the event, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said, "We are committed to ensuring the security and integrity of our nation's borders. The BI remains vigilant in its efforts to safeguard our borders against individuals involved in illegal activities."
Based on information from the Bureau of Internal Affairs' Border Control Intelligence Unit, Pratama is accused of working without a permit and overstaying his visa due to his purported involvement in cybercrime while he was employed at Xinchuang Network Technology Inc. (XNT), a Las Piñas-based company.
It can be recalled that the said online gaming company was ordered to shut down by the government after it was raided by the Philippine National Police (PNP) earlier this year for trafficking and cybercrime.
The BI chief added that Pratama will temporarily be held in the BI's Warden Facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, before his eventual deportation.
