Authorities arrested a man who tried to steal solar road studs and when frisked yielded shabu inside his bag at dawn yesterday in Taguig City.
The suspect alias Dave, 50 years old, a masseur, was arrested around 2 a.m. at Zone 4 Fort Bonifacio after he was caught tinkering with the road lights.
The police recovered from the suspect different identification cards, steel, a bag, knife, and the suspected shabu estimated at one gram.
Patrolman Carlo Marco said the suspect failed to show any identification card when they approached him forcing them to invite him to the nearest precinct where his bag was inspected and yielded various ID's, knife and illegal drugs.
Marco said when they chanced upon the suspect he was just starting to tinker with the solar road studs but when accosted denied that he was attempting to take it.
The suspect said he was not the one who tried to steal the said road lights and he was just looking at it.
He said he was just inspecting it because the studs were giving off light and when he jumped on it the light turned off.
However, the suspect admitted that he was using illegal drugs and even asked to use the confiscated illegal drugs while he was being held.
He admitted using illegal drugs for five years but he is harmless since he is a religious man.
The suspect will be facing charges for illegal possession of deadly weapon and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
