The country can expect significant rain for the next two days brought about by the combined effects of the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan and the shearline, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Thursday.
In its latest weather bulletin, PAGASA said the combined two weather systems will bring heavy rain to the mainland Cagayan province, Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon province.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Kalayaan Islands due to the combined effects of shearline and the trough of a recently exited low-pressure area, formerly known as Kabayan.
Also, cloudy skies with rains will prevail in the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of the Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur, due to the northeast monsoon.
The remaining Ilocos Region will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Amihan, but PAGASA will not have a significant impact.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, influenced by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Amid the weather conditions, strong wind speed is directed to the northeast, and rough coast will prevail in Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.
Moderate to strong winds directing East to Northeast, with moderate-to-rough coasts will be experienced in the rest of Luzon, and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
While the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds directing East to Northeast with slight to moderate coastal waters.
