Muntinlupa City celebrated its 106th Founding Anniversary yesterday with the blessing and inauguration of its Poblacion Evacuation Center along Rizal Street which served as a highlight of festivities led by Mayor Rufino Biazon.
In his message, Biazon asked Muntinlupenos to take care of the facility because it is for them and the next generation in the event of disasters and calamities.
Poblacion Barangay Captain Allen Ampaya thanked the city government for the project which he said will be of great help to the residents.
Earlier the city honored the retiring and outstanding employees of the local government for their fast, responsive, efficient and effective public service.
Biazon said the celebration is a testament to the resilience and progress that define its rich history.
"From its humble beginnings as a small town to its current status as a bustling urban center, Muntinlupa has undergone a remarkable transformation, symbolizing the spirit of its people and the city's commitment to growth," he said.
Founded on 19 December 1917, Muntinlupa has come a long way from its agricultural roots. Originally known for its vast rice fields and bamboo groves, the city has evolved into a dynamic and diverse community, embracing both its heritage and the opportunities of the modern era.
The anniversary serves as an occasion to reflect on the city's journey and celebrate the achievements that have shaped its identity.
One of the key aspects of Muntinlupa's history is its ability to adapt and thrive in the face of challenges. The city weathered economic shifts, political changes, and natural disasters, emerging stronger each time.
This resilience is deeply ingrained in the character of Muntinlupeños, who have consistently demonstrated a remarkable ability to overcome adversity and work together for the greater good.
Moreover, Muntinlupa's progress is evident in its urban development and economic growth. Over the years, the city has transformed into a key business and residential hub within the National Capital Region. The skyline is adorned with modern structures, and the streets buzz with activity, reflecting the vibrancy of a city that has successfully embraced change while preserving its cultural heritage.
The anniversary is also an opportunity to acknowledge the city's commitment to sustainable development. Muntinlupa has implemented various initiatives aimed at promoting environmental conservation, waste management, and community engagement. As the world grapples with pressing environmental issues, Muntinlupa stands as a model for municipalities seeking to balance progress with ecological responsibility.
