All 121 electric cooperatives or ECs are told to comply with the projected number of potential consumer connections from 2024 to 2028 as the National Electrification Administration or NEA accelerates its total electrification plan.
NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda signed a memorandum on 12 December 2023, encouraging the ECs to align their targets and monitor their progress toward this goal.
They should follow the Local Total Electrification Roadmap and the Distribution Development Plan for this purpose.
The state-owned corporation has announced its 2028 Total Electrification Plan which aims to increase the number of potential consumer connections under EC service areas nationwide by 1,359,610. The figures are based on calculated data from the Philippine Statistics Authority and the application of linear programming.
Detailed projections eyed
To achieve this goal, detailed projections for each power co-op will be uploaded on the NEA-Business Intelligence Technology portal and the Barangay Energization Matrix by January 2024.
The NEA has also improved the BEM template to better streamline the Connections Data Entry Template, identify electrification solutions for each barangay, and prioritize funding allocation for those with low levels of electrification, among others.
The NEA will assess each EC accordingly based on the implementing guidelines of the Annual EC Overall Performance Assessment, under the "Level of Electrification" parameter.
The state-owned corporation has designated Acting Program Control Section Head Jovani Lagon from the Database Management and Program Control Division as a point person to assist the ECs and address their concerns related to the orders.
The projected number of potential consumer connections per city, municipality, and barangay, as well as the enhanced BEM template, are now available for download.
