The Las Piñas City Police arrested on Wednesday a hairstylist after stealing the daily income of the hair parlor where he works with.
The authorities identified the suspect as Ferdinand Arce, 43 years old, and a resident of Dasmarinas City.
According to the police report, the complainant, Rosevi Geroy, reviewed the salon's CCTV footage after noticing that a portion of their daily income, amounting to P20,000 was missing. While investigating the loss, Geroy observed in the CCTV footage that the suspect used their key to open the glass door and took the business's income before carting it away.
The Las Pinas Police conducted a follow-up operation in Dasmarinas, Cavite, led by Police Senior Master Sergeant Glen Acaba, Police Corporal Mark Edwin Orongan, and Police Corporal Kevin Agbuya to arrest the suspect, but was not present.
The investigators accompanied by the complainant, returned to the salon on the same date to gather further information about the case. As they reached the salon, the complainant pointed out the suspect which prompted the investigators to put Arce under arrest.
The authorities recovered the remaining stolen money, amounting to P8,600, from the suspect.
According to PSMS Glen Acaba, what made the suspect steal the salon's money is due to his lack of budget for his electricity bills and his parent's medication.
"When we asked the suspect why he stole the salon's money, he explained that he was desperate because he needed to buy medicine for his parents who were sick. Some of the stolen money had already been used to pay their electricity bill," Acaba said.
Acaba mentioned that the suspect had worked for a year as one of the pioneering employees in the salon.
Arce is currently detained at Las Piñas City Police Station SIDMS Office and has been charged with theft.
