The National Bureau of Investigation on Thursday disclosed that it is already coordinating with the Malaysian Embassy in Manila as they launched an intensified probe to identify those responsible for the killing of a kidnapped Malaysian worker of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator last October.
This was confirmed by NBI National Capital Region as its agents met with Malaysian Embassy officials on 12 December on the case of kidnap-for-ransom victim it identified only as "Jason."
The Malaysian Embassy has been helping track down where the ransom money paid by "Jason's" parents in Malaysia was sent to the Philippines.
It said the Embassy assisted Jason's brother living in the Philippines in asking the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnaping Group to issue on 25 October a nationwide alarm about the missing victim.
"Jason," who worked as an IT officer and interpreter at a legitimate POGO, was found dead in San Simon, Pampanga on 25 October 2023.
The victim was reported missing last 21 October, the same day his parents in Malaysia paid the first tranche of ransom money and the second tranche was paid through cryptocurrency.
The kidnappers promised to release the "Jason" on 22 October but NBI autopsy conducted showed that the victim was killed on that same day.
