Records of the Bureau of Immigration and the Department of Tourism on foreign and Filipino arrivals in the country do not add up.
Based on the latest report of the DoT, as of 11 December, the Philippines has received a total of 5,069,752 international visitor arrivals.
Of this number, 4,658,123, or 91.88 percent, are foreign tourists, while the remaining 411,629, or 8.12 percent, are overseas Filipinos.
The discrepancy came to light on Thursday's show of DAILY TRIBUNE's digital show Usapang OFW, with the bigger figure provided by the BI for the shorter 11-month period.
Records from the BI said the total processed passenger arrivals in the country from January to November 2023 alone hit 11,200,210.
Of the number, 5,337,975 were foreign arrivals, while 5,862,235 were Filipinos.
On the other hand, a total of 11,964,312 passengers departed the country from January to November 2023, of which 5,365,998 were foreign departures, while 6,598,314 were Filipinos.
