The Department of Migrant Workers announced on Saturday the arrival of eight more seafarers of a ship involved in a Russian attack at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport via China Southern Airlines Flight CZ397 on Friday afternoon.
The eight seafarers were part of the crew of the marine vessel KMAX RULER, which was struck by a Russian missile in the Ukranian Black Sea port of Pivdennyi last month.
On 2 December, 14 Filipino seafarers arrived in the country on midnight at NAIA Terminal 1.
According to the DMW, the crew's manning agency shouldered the costs of their return to the country as well as transit and accommodations on their way home to their respective provinces.
Benefits granted
The DMW said all crew members were provided initial medical check-up, psychosocial assessment, and an initial amount of P10,000 in financial assistance from the OWWA.
They are also due to receive additional insurance and other benefits from their manning and shipping agencies.
The arrival of the eight seafarers completes the 25 affected Filipinos in the missile attack.
