A 32-year-old resident of Mendez Street in Tagaytay City was nabbed by operatives of the Quezon City Police District, District Anti-Carnapping Unit at a checkpoint in Maginhawa Street driving a car without a conduction sticker and falsified vehicle documents.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect Gerald Casiano, also has an outstanding warrant of arrest issued on October 26, 2023, for violating R.A. 10883, also known as the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
QCPD-DACU chief P/Maj. Hector Ortencio said Casiano was flagged down when his men noticed that the suspect was driving a gray Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLX without a conduction sticker attached to the rear glass.
This prompted them to flag down the said vehicle, and upon document verification, they discovered that Casiano, presented fictitious documents, immediately effecting his arrest and recovered the said vehicle.
Ortencio added that they also found Casiano facing a car theft case and has a warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Niven Redillas Canlapan, the Presiding Judge of Branch 109, Regional Trial Court, Carmona, Cavite.
Casiano was slapped with charges of Falsification of Public Documents before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office and was served the warrant.
"I commend the DACU personnel for their tireless efforts in the pursuit of their duty which led to the apprehension of the suspect and the recovery of the evidence. This achievement reflects the dedication and diligence of our team in upholding the law and maintaining order on our streets," QCPD Director P/Brig.Gen. Redrico Maranan said.
