BAGUIO CITY — An elementary school head in one of the public schools of Baguio City did not mind her own safety in a bid to save a child from drowning, ultimately costing her own life.
The drowning incident happened on 8 December at Bauang, La Union. The principal was identified as Brigette Galong. She was a resident of Kalkalan, Barangay Pinsao Proper, Baguio City.
Galong was the principal of Bakakeng Elementary School at Barangay Bakakeng, Baguio City.
At the date of the incident, Galong and other teachers, together with the family, went to the beach of Bauang, La Union for their outing.
While they were in the beach swimming, a child of one of the teachers was discovered to be drowning.
Galong immediately rescued the child, who survived, but she drowned.
