The Department of the Interior and Local Government on Wednesday disclosed that at least 1,000 provincial chapter presidents of the Sangguniang Kabataan will undergo three-day National Youth Convention for Philippine National Action on youth, peace and security in Baguio City.

The three-day convention — slated from 7 to 10 December — carries the theme, "Mga Bagong BIDA sa Bagong Pilipinas" and aims to train SK leaders to become effective participants in local and national development.

DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. said that the convention will also provide a comprehensive overview of the youth landscape in the Philippines.

"We hope that they will be the protagonists of the new generation of youth to be the government's companion in the journey of the country. The DILG and the NYC will work together to prepare the SK and make sure they can fulfill their role," said Abalos in a statement.
