Senator Imee Marcos on Wednesday voiced her support for Vice President Sara Duterte's stance against the Marcos administration's decision to resume peace negotiations with communist rebels.
In a chance interview, Senator Marcos was asked whether she shared Duterte's sentiments against the Marcos administration's peace talks with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines.
"Yes," Senator Marcos said without further elaborating on her answer.
Earlier this week, Duterte aired her disapproval of Marcos' decision to revive peace talks with the NDFP which she described as "an agreement with the devil."
"Mr. President, the government's statement with the NDFP in Oslo was an agreement with the devil," Duterte said during the 5th Anniversary of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
"History has proven that they are not serious and have no sincerity in peace negotiations. They will use this peace negotiation to betray the government and full the people," she added.
Senator Marcos also downplayed calls for Duterte's resignation as secretary of the Department of Education.
"You may remain an ally even though you do not agree with every issue. It is actually better because everyone will discuss everything," she stressed.
One of the notable figures who called for Duterte's resignation as Education chief was former senator Leila de Lima.
When asked for a comment about De Lima's plea, Marcos answered: "Dream on."
