The local government of Iloilo City announced that its local chief executive Mayor Jerry Treñas was named as top-performing city mayor in the country, gaining 93.07 percent rating in public office and public trust.
The recognition was disclosed by a recent national performance survey of the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. conducted from 20 to 30 September 2023.
It said that Treñas has solidified his status as the top-performing city mayor with significant progress and an indication of a notable enhancement in his governance and leadership effectiveness.
"I am very grateful to my fellow Ilonggos, especially here in Iloilo City, for their continued tru st and confidence in my leadership. For me, this is a recognition and validation of all the hard work and dedication of all the men and women in the City Government," Treñas said.
The city mayor added that this will serve as an inspiration for his administration to do better and come up with more programs for the benefit of the whole Ilonggo community.
"I dedicate all our efforts to our people. I will continue to do my best, hoping to serve as an inspiration to my fellow public servants and leaders," Treñas said.
The survey recognized city mayors based on seven criteria — service delivery, financial acumen, economic progress, leadership governance, environmental conservation, social initiatives and engagement.
It was realized in his achievement as a public official through the WHEELS Program for Inclusive Development, which focuses on Welfare, Health, Education, Environment, Livelihood and Sustainability.
According to RPMD, this comprehensive assessment highlights the dedication and effective governance of city mayors in the region, showcasing their commitment to their communities.
