CLARK CITY, Pampanga — The Bureau of Immigration is training a new batch of immigration officers to be deployed in time for the Christmas season.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that the 38 immigration officers, immigration assistants, administrative aides and officers, and fingerprint examiners are training at the Philippine Immigration Academy.
The trainees will receive lectures on Philippine immigration rules and policies, as well as soft skills training in communication, customer service and conflict resolution.
Tansingco said that the BI saw the need to increase soft skills training following the issues they have encountered with some immigration officers.
"We want to make sure that our frontliners are able to provide the best possible service to the travelling public," Tansingco said.
The new batch of officers is scheduled to graduate on 11 December and will be deployed immediately.
