NTC vows consistent FoI

The National Telecommunications Commission or NTC is pressing on with its mandate as an industry regulator with full compliance to the mandates of the landmark Freedom of Information or FoI bill.
In a press statement on Tuesday, NTC Deputy Commissioner Deputy Commissioner Alvin Bernard Blanco reiterated that the agency will continue to abide by the principles of the FoI Program through its FoI Officers' daily intervention in the FoI portal and standard platform.
Blanco also committed that the NTC will constantly strive to render transparent, fast, and reliable public service to the Filipino people.
The NTC was honored for the sixth consecutive year at the annual FoI Awards ceremony of the Presidential Communications Operations Office or PCOO for being the Top Requested and Performing Agency in the eFoI Portal with 500 to 999 requests and with at least 90 percent closed transactions.
The FoI Awards is an annual event that recognizes FoI partners, program implementers, and stakeholders who have helped advance the FoI Program.
In response to the call for transparency and full public disclosure of information, the Government has established the FoI Program.
FoI is a government mechanism that allows Filipino citizens to request any information about government transactions and operations, provided that it does not jeopardize privacy and national security matters.
Executive Order 2, s. 2016 is the enabling order for the FoI.
The PCOO, on the other hand, oversees the implementation and operationalization of the FoI Program. It serves as the coordinator of all government agencies to ensure the program's proper implementation.
