NAIA ready for holiday rush, says DoTr

The Department of Transportation or DoTr has guaranteed uninterrupted operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA to accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger traffic in the upcoming holiday season.
Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista said on Tuesday that preparatory measures are in place to ensure travelers flying to and from NAIA can travel with ease.
Bautista pointed out that the main gateway's on-time performance or OTP was an efficient 84 percent during Undas with the same or even higher efficiency rating expected to be delivered for the holidays.
He added that the preparation for Undas and Barangay Elections will be the barometer for the upcoming Christmas Season, wherein the agency expects at least 138,000 passengers to troop the airport daily.
"During Undas and election break, we prepared for a bigger number of passengers. Now, we are at 130,000 passengers per day—an increase of another 8,000 passengers is expected here at NAIA. 140,000 passengers per day will be a lot," he said on the sidelines of Converge's launching of free WiFi at the NAIA Terminal 3.
Meanwhile, Bautista asked the passengers to avoid last-minute booking of flights and arrive at least three hours before departure.
"If you are traveling on a holiday, see to it that you have already booked flights. Last-minute booking is difficult. When you are there on the day of your trip, let's make sure, we should be an hour earlier there during our normal trip. If we used to need 2 hours before the flight, now, let's make it 3 hours," he said.
