Operatives of the District Anti-Carnapping Unit of the Quezon City Police District over the weekend filed criminal charges against two suspects involved in the Anti-Fencing Law and Carnapping.

P/Maj. Hector Ortencio, chief, DACU, identified the suspects as Antonio Bangawan Vicente, 44 years old, a resident of Block 22, Lot 25, Barangay San Jose, Montalban, Rodriguez Rizal and Edison Julaton Miller, 30 years old, a resident of No. 21 Anonas Street, Barangay Quirino 3A, Project 2, Quezon City.
Ortencio said that at 11 a.m. on 14 September, Christian Quiboy parked his sister's gray Honda City car in front of No. 19 Tamblot Street near corner Diego Silang Street, Barangay Masagana, Quezon City, and left unlocked. However, upon checking at 8 a.m. on 15 September, said motor vehicle went missing, prompting him to inform his sister, Almarie Joy Quiboy-Lolong.
At that instance, they immediately proceeded to Barangay Masagana, Quezon City, and upon review of CCTV footage installed thereat, it was revealed that at 4:05 a.m. of 15 September, suspect Miller took the said motor vehicle using the remote control left inside and drove towards an undisclosed location.
Subsequently, on 18 September, Almarie reported the incident to DACU, prompting them to conduct an in-depth investigation. It was revealed then that the suspect was Edison Julaton Miller, whom they arrested on 25 October for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Meanwhile, at 6 a.m. of 3 November, a concerned citizen informed the DACU that the carnapped motor vehicle was seen along Payatas Road, Quezon City. DACU operatives quickly proceeded to the area, and upon checking, they saw suspect Vicente seating inside the vehicle; hence, they immediately effected his arrest and recovered from his possesion the said motor vehicle with plate No. NAL 3653.
Suspect Vicente will be charged with anti-fencing law and will be referred before the Quezon City Prosecutor's office, while suspect Miller will be subjected to direct filing for violation of RA 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
QCPD Director P/Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan commended the DACU operatives led by Ortencio for their diligence in solving the case, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the said evidence.
