The local government of Manila collected almost 300 metric tons of garbage in the two big cemeteries for the duration of Undas, according to Manila PIO Chief Atty. Princess Abante, where the total count of garbage was computed based on the number of truckloads collected.
Compared to last year where only 148 metric tons, this year's collection almost doubled at exactly 299 metric tons, she said.
Abante explained that the situation this year was different as all restrictions inside the cemeteries have been lifted.
"As for last year, the country is still reeling from the Covid-19 pandemic that strict rules were imposed to prevent the spread of the virus," Abante said.
