The Bureau of Immigration on Monday reminded anew all international travelers to to prioritize their early check-in by arriving at least three hours before their scheduled flight to ensure a smooth travel experience
BI commissioner Norman Tansingco stressed that the reminder for early check-in is not just a recommendation but a key factor in ensuring smooth immigration procedures
"Passengers should make it a priority to complete check-in and proceed directly to the immigration area," Tansingco said.
The BI chief also said that the number of travelers is expected to surge due to the long weekend and in line with this, the agency has beefed up operations through the deployment of additional immigration officers, the assignment of augmentation teams and the introduction of mobile counters to expedite the processing of arriving and departing passengers.
Tansingco assured the public that their BI officers are well-prepared to handle the situation properly despite the probable increase in passenger volume during peak travel times.
While they anticipate some waiting times due to simultaneous arrivals and departures, they have implemented measures to ensure that lines at the immigration counters remain manageable.
To guarantee a seamless operation, the BI chief instructed all terminal heads to closely monitor the Bureau's operations in the coming weeks to detect and resolve any potential issues promptly.
He added that their daily operations in international airports are posted on social media during holidays and weekends to allow travelers to prepare in advance.
